Michael Sprouse is a multidimensional executive with proven experience leading various types of organizations to marked growth in every instance. He has public and private company experience as a top executive, leading start-up environments as well as decades-old entities. He has cultivated comprehensive strategies, bringing digital media and marketing organizations from the ground to brand, revenue, and profit growth. He successfully challenged the positioning paradigm of traditional offline media companies, redesigning their digital strategies that produced ultimate gains.  In each instance, Sprouse’s work and ideas have led organizations to positive growth.

Sprouse is currently the Chief Marketing Officer of the Epic Media Group, a profitable, privately-owned online marketing & technology organization recognized by the Inc. 5000, Crain’s New York Business as the #3 “Best Places to Work”, and the American Business Association as a “Best Overall Company”. He currently oversees all marketing strategy, social media marketing, branding, direct marketing, public relations strategy and management, philanthropy, strategic client events, creative services, trade marketing, & internal communications. The strategy and programs he implemented were directly responsible in leading the company to 70%+ revenue and profit growth in 2009 with company revenues well into the 9-figures. To date, he has overseen the launch of profitable new business lines, two entire company re-branding efforts, numerous creative services industry awards, implementation of an aggressive corporate philanthropy program, and a companywide “green” initiative. Overall, this has led to the development of a world-class, marketing-driven organization.

Additionally, Sprouse led a team honored with the American Business Association award in 2009 for “Marketing Team of the Year” in the United States, beating the likes of Cessna and John Hancock Financial. This honor was immediately followed by numerous industry awards and recognition for his Creative Services and Design team, and a ReBrand 100 award given to the world’s most effective rebranding efforts.

In 2009, Sprouse founded and launched a 28-page business magazine in print, called Winning the Web. As Editor and Publisher, he has overseen its early rapid growth in subscribers and new business generation.

His opinion and expert industry analysis have been cited in hundreds of international industry publications. His leadership and expertise have opened up many public speaking opportunities in addition to industry recognition, including numerous keynote presentations. He has recently begun his own blog providing insight on a number of business, marketing and management issues.

Prior to Epic, Sprouse served as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Playboy Enterprises, Inc. In his five years at Playboy, Sprouse helped to oversee a business transformation in their digital and e-commerce business unit as the youngest senior executive in the company’s 58-year history, overseeing varying amounts of revenue and profit growth throughout his tenure. Sprouse was responsible for providing direct marketing strategy and leadership in the division’s Online and E-Commerce/Catalog businesses, growing Operating Income in the business unit over 400% in three years, while leading cross-platform marketing efforts with other digital business units including Worldwide Home Video & DVD, Domestic/International TV and Mobile/Wireless.

Before Playboy, Sprouse spent five years at MBI, Inc (The Danbury Mint), which manufactures and markets fine collectibles. During his tenure, he was responsible for managing direct response & direct mail/catalog P&L and facilitated the consistent sales growth of various consumer product lines. He was also the developer and first-ever manager of the company’s e-commerce business, while still managing his daily duties in catalog and direct mail.

Prior to MBI, Inc, Sprouse was a world-ranked ATP men’s tennis player participating in world-class professional tournaments all around the world. Upon retirement from tennis, he competed in 7 marathons, including New York, Boston & Washington D.C’s prestigious Marine Corps Marathon.

Sprouse graduated from the University of Notre Dame, where he was a Dean’s List student and captain of the nationally-ranked tennis team. Sprouse was the only collegiate junior ever to earn the Arthur Ashe Award which is given to one Division I collegiate tennis player each year in recognition of achievement, leadership and sportsmanship. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting and graduated Magna Cum Laude.

Sprouse resides in New York, NY and is originally from Fairfield, CT. He currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Internet Marketing Executive Council and Think ECO-logical, and is a member of the American Marketing Association and the CMO Council.
